Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond was not initially planned to be a VR game, but the developers pivoted to Oculus Rift after meeting and discussing the game with Facebook executives. The core team of the studio previously worked on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Respawn Entertainment served as the game's developer.
The game also features multiplayer modes. The game takes place in Europe during World War II, taking the franchise back to its roots, with the main protagonist being an OSS agent and fighter in the French Resistance.
